T.C. Pruitt is an author and illustrator of children’s fiction. She is a member of the international Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and is an alumna of Golden Egg Academy, Faber Academy, and Robert McKee’s STORY seminar.

In 2023, she received a Distinction in a Masters in Crime and Thriller Writing programme from the University of Cambridge for work including a children’s crime novel.

Her Young Adult historical heist novel was longlisted for the 2018 Bath Children’s Novel Award and the 2016 Mslexia Children's Novel Award. Her Middle Grade thriller was longlisted for the SCBWI Undiscovered Voices 2018 Anthology.

Pruitt is also an illustrator who has completed children’s book illustration courses with the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.

Academic Work in Creative Writing

Pruitt has combined her knowledge of storytelling and archaeology in three recent academic papers:

  • What the Science of Storytelling Can Teach Archaeology was presented at the 2020 European Association of Archaeologists virtual conference.

  • Examining Archaeological Stories: Understanding the Science and Impact of Storytelling was an expanded and updated version of the same paper. Pruitt was invited to present her research as a main speaker at NASTA: Narrative and Storytelling in Archaeology virtual conference in 2021.

  • Engaging the Science of Storytelling in Archaeological Communication is a peer-reviewed academic paper based on presented research, appearing in the November 2022 issue of the Archaeological Review from Cambridge, Volume 37.2: Aesthetics, Sensory Skills, and Archaeology.
